1. How much does it all cost? Are there any service charges?

Pricing depends on your event, the day it is held and the time of year. Here is a list of our pricing:

Wedding Reception Rates

3 day rental rate: $8900

May 1- October 31: Sunday-Wednesday $4900   Fridays $5900   Saturdays $6900

November 1-April 30: Any day of the week $4900

Non profits and corporate events

starting at $2000

Extra Charges

9% VT State Rooms and Meals Tax on the Facility Fee

120% on site staffing fee on the Facility Fee only

 

2. What does your facility cost include?

Our historic barn is from the 1800’s and has been a dedicated event space since 1960. We are located on just under 10 acres. You can be on property from 9am-midnight and music has to stop at 11pm- the latest in the business! For your convenience we have 18 round tables, 8 long tables, 5 square tables, 175 Mahogony Chivari Chairs, 175 white outside ceremony chairs, glassware, flatware and china for 175 for you to use. Our facility has heat and A/C. There are large men’s and women’s restrooms, as well as, 2 additional ADA accessible restrooms. The entire Old Lantern Barn is 1 level and completely accessible. We have coat racks for your use during inclement weather.

3. Is the location convenient?

We are located 20 minutes from the Burlington International Airport and 15 minutes from downtown Burlington. There are a lot of lodging options all within this area We have convenient parking on property for 300+ cars.

4. What's the capacity?

We have a capacity of 300 guests for an event, but really less than 250 is our sweet spot that still allows for a big dance floor! We have enough table, chairs, glassware, flatware and china for 175 people, but you are welcome to bring in additional rentals.

5. What does the space look like?

6. Where will my different events be held?

You will have full use of the grounds around the Old Lantern, the 45’ x 47’ bar area, as well as, the main event space that is 45’ x 95’. There is a wedding arbor outside if you would like to use for your ceremony.

7. How much work will we have to put into decorating the space?

Our unique barn has a lot of items available for you to use, as well as, lighting, so there is not a lot necessary. Everyone is welcome to add touches to make it personal for you.

8. What's the catering situation?

We can provide you with delicious in house catering. Check out our reviews! Using the in house catering can save a lot on extra expenses charged by an outside caterer. Of course, if you have a favorite, you are welcome to bring in an outside caterer as long as they are licensed and insured. We have a commercial kitchen complete with convection oven, 8 burner gas stove, 2 ovens and a dishwasher for your caterer to use.

9. Do you have a bar?

Yes! We have a VT State Liquor License and we are fully insured. Your bar set up and bartenders are included in your facility fee. You would only have to pay for items you want to provide for your guests ei. Kegs, bottles of wine, signature cocktails, etc. Only for what you purchase, you pay 10% VT Spirit Tax and 20% gratuity. You do not pay the 10% on site staffing fee.

10. Is there space for me to get ready?

We have a large and lovely getting ready room with full length mirrors and space to hang garments in the Old Lantern. A lot of couples also choose to rent the Old Lantern Inn on property to get ready. This space offers 8 guest rooms with private baths and a large great room for everyone to gather and get ready day of but is not required.  Ask your event planner for that information.

11. Are there areas on site to hold a ceremony?

We are located on close to 10 acres. We have a landscaped ceremony site with an arbor where we will set up the ceremony chairs there as part of your facility fee. However, if would prefer to have it anywhere on the property, you are welcome to. Also, we have a beautiful barn doorway inside as an alternative if the weather is not cooperative.

12. Is there a coordinator on staff? Who will be my main point of contact?

There will be a liaison for the venue available during the entire day to answer any questions. We encourage everyone to appoint a day of coordinator and can recommend adding our in house coordinating team.

13. Is there a list of preferred vendors or can I use any pros I want?

We have been in the wedding and event industry in Vermont since 1995. We are members of the Vermont Association of Wedding Professionals. We encourage you to use the list we have created on our website as the best of the best. Of course, you are welcome to bring in your own licensed and insured vendors.

14. What's your payment /cancellation policies?

When you agree to secure your event date, you will need you to sign and return your contract within 10 days including a payment for half of your facility fee. The remainder of the payment & fees are due 30 days before your event. If you cancel before 30 days, your only liability is the original payment and you give up your date. After 30 days, we assume your event is happening and your date is not relinquished. The bar is due at the end of your event date.

15. Will my event be the only one held at the venue at that time?

Yes! We only hold ONE event per day. All of our clients have use of the facility from 9am-midnight.

16. Do you have liability insurance?

We are fully insured with building and liquor liability insurance. We require all outside vendors to provide a certificate of insurance and license 30 days in advance of your rental date. The event industry recommends our clients to have event insurance, but we do not require it.
